Born in 1948 in Providence RI, plein-air painter Robin S. Rier moved to Maine in 1976. She completed a boatbuilding program in Eastport in 1979, and experienced her first oil painting in 1987 at the University of Maine at Machias. She earned her B.A. in Interdisciplinary Fine Arts
 with a concentration in Visual Arts; summa cum laude.

Robin resides in Jonesport, Maine.
